We are a group of friends who started playing recreational volleyball in 1993.
Yes, this was 30 years ago.
Now?
We have successfully grown into a club with 8 teams - adults and juniors. The last 2 years have been phenomenal. We have grown our junior wing and reached national competitions.
However, we are open to most ages and abilities.
We welcome new people all year long, not just in our teams but in our "more social" games, a healthy mix of fun and competition (as well as a fair share of taking the mick!).
Worthing Volleyball Club is still an amateur sports entity.
This means that all our success (and work!) has been run by volunteers.
Behind the scenes, an executive committee is responsible for the day-to-day decisions, the annual AGM and future plans. We will also find other executive members, such as the team secretaries, to help manage the teams.
Meet the Worthing Volleyball Club team below.
The chairman is responsible for overseeing the running of the club.
Mickey coordinates the committees and liaises with the Sussex Volleyball Association and other outside partners.
He is one of our Level 2 accredited coaches and will lead adult and junior sessions as required. He also provides match-day coaching.
The secretary is responsible for overseeing club membership details, team registrations and hall bookings.
Dominic is an accredited Level 1 assistant coach, mainly focussing on our junior members and teams.
The Treasurer is responsible for the finances of the club: monitoring and collecting subscriptions, paying invoices and advising the committee about subscription levels.
The Assistant Treasurer is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of subscription payments and takes the lead on the payment of junior competition fees.
Sophie is an accredited Level 1 assistant coach, mainly focusing on our junior members and teams.
The head coach is responsible for overseeing, planning and delivering the coaching that the club provides.
Mark is also the lead selector for the teams as they are decided each season.
He is one of our Level 2 accredited coaches and will lead adult and junior sessions as required. He also provides match-day coaching.
The welfare officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all people, adults and juniors, who attend the club.
Robyn is one of our Level 2 accredited coaches and will lead adult and junior sessions as required. She also provides match-day coaching.
